The Adult Health Program is committed to maintaining the health and improving the quality of life for people 18 years of age and older through the provision of education and the practice of preventive medicine. The clinic provides screening tests based on the client’s risk factors, signs, or symptoms. Tests that are provided are Pap Smears, breast exams, oral screening, blood pressure, weight, height, hemoglobin, urinalysis, cholesterol and blood sugar.
Adult health clinics are held on the first, third, and fifth Thursdays of the month by appointment. Public health nurses and lab techs staff clinics. Any patient, male or female, over 18 are eligible
The most significant abnormal findings in the adult health clinic have been elevated cholesterol and blood pressure readings. Patients are counseled about their test results, life style changes, diet, etc. Pamphlets and handouts pertinent to each individual patient are given. Referrals to physicians are made as necessary. All reports are sent to the patient’s doctor to provide continuity of care for the patient
The program provides clinical breast exams, pelvics, pap smears and education about self-breast exams, cancer prevention and healthy practices.
Patients with abnormal tests are referred to appropriate doctors for follow-up and treatment.
